Professional Learning
We're committed to supporting the professional growth of K-12 social studies teachers across Kansas
We want to offer a variety of opportunities as you work to become better at your craft. Besides the information on outside resources available under Teacher Resources, we offer face to face workshops and a yearly conference in partnership with other professional organizations in Kansas.
We want to continue that by developing and offering both face to face informal learning that we've dubbed Pub PD and more formal learning through the use of online webinars.
Pub PD Coming 9/26 - save the date!
It's been too long since you've had the chance to sit and talk social studies stuff with other social studies teachers!
So we're busy making plans for our free Pub PD meetups at three local breweries across the state!
There's no real agenda - just the chance to connect with others. We'll share a cold beverage, probably do a little state assessment Q & A, chat about best practices, and generally have a good time.
Drop in any time. Stay as long as you like. (But to help us plan for the perfect amount of nacho cheese and chips, we'd love if you let us know you're coming.)
So find your nearest KCSS friendly pub and we'll see you there!

STATE CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 2022
We normally partner with the Kansas Council for History Education, the Kansas Geographic Alliance, and the Kansas Council for Economic Education to host a fall statewide social studies conference. Covid changed that a bit.
The conference is currently scheduled to take place remotely during the month of February. We'll be updating here as we work out the details!
